What are Pigmentations?
The skin can feel uneven and appear darker if you have pigmentation spots. These can be caused by sun damage or hormonal changes. It is important to be examined by a doctor who will confirm that it is pigmentation before treatment can be performed.
How does pigmentation removal work?
With laser treatment, the pigment is absorbed by the light and converted into heat energy that destroys the unwanted pigment. After the treatment, the treated area will appear a bit darker. What happens is that the pigment rises to the surface (epidermis) where it will flake off after about 5-12 days.
Things to keep in mind:
Avoid sunbathing about 1 month before and after treatment, and avoid activities that increase blood circulation for 24 hours after treatment. SPF 30-50 should be used after treatment.
